The Ransom Group of Companies
Transforming Residential Lettings & Sales for Tomorrow
Our 3 Corporate Entities Are……
Over a century of successful development…..
Leslie Henry Ransom (LH, 1900 - 1982). LH studied architecture at UCL after returning from service in World War I. He teamed up with the Moon family to build much needed houses in Chessington & Worcester Park. He built his first house in 1921. In the post war boom his ventures built the sought after areas such as Hooklands Estate (Somerset Avenue, Selwood Road & Vallis Way in KT9). His developments included some commercial space at where our offices are still based today, above the local store that was Ransoms Plant Hire until 2024.
After serving as a warden during WW2 he built roads including Ronelean Road & Verona Drive in KT6 along with Alsom Avenue, Ardrossan Gardens & Stoneleigh Park Road in KT4, as well as Quinton Road & Oakdene Avenue in KT7 along with St. Pauls Close & Cecil Close in KT9.
In all over 1,000 homes were built by over 100 craftsmen.
The next generation took up his mantle, and added to the legacy, building developments along the Hook Road in Chessington, including Coniston Court, Heather Court and Hooklands Court, along with various sites of lock up garages during the 1960s and 1970s.
Whilst always retaining a small number or homes from the developments this left a property portfolio of houses that the family had built, which is now managed by the third generation.
In the last 10 years this generation developed the strategic decision to develop the garage sites into much needed local housing, having completed new family homes in Surbiton in 2024, and working to complete a site in Chessington in 2026 prior to breaking ground in Worcester Park later the same year.
This will allow a the family business transition to the fourth generation in a very strong position for the future, and LH’s legacy to continue.
Our vision….
To be the landlord of choice, offering high quality property to let at competitive prices whist offering an exemplary customer service from a small and local family company whilst increasing our portfolio with new property that we develop ourselves.
